The Al‑Anon/Alateen group is the basic unit of Al‑Anon Family Groups. It is where close personal interchanges take place among members. At group meetings Al‑Anon ideas are discussed and applied to specific personal problems.

The entire Al‑Anon/Alateen fellowship structure exists for the sole purpose of helping the groups help members.

Registration with the World Service Office ensures a connection with worldwide Al‑Anon. Upon registration, the group can count on the WSO for ongoing support including monthly and quarterly postal and electronic mailings.

Al-Anon Group Changes/Updates

Some Areas request that all changes be submitted through the Area Process. In order to process the change in a timely manner, groups are encouraged to contact their District Representative (DR) or Area Group Records Coordinator for information about the Area Process. Changes can also be sent directly to the WSO.

Groups that are not receiving WSO or Area mailings can contact their Area Group Records Coordinator or the WSO Group Records Department to verify their Current Mailing Address (CMA) postal or email information is on file.

New International Group Registration

Once your group is registered with the WSO, a group number will be assigned and a packet containing introductory materials will be sent to the group’s Current Mailing Address (CMA). After the WSO registration process is completed the group will need to contact the local district or Al‑Anon Information Service (AIS) to be included in the local meeting directory and the Area Web site. Please note that some Areas and AISs may require a second, separate registration form.
